Aegean Notebooks. Book of Silence

Aegean Notebooks. Book of Silence

1. Palm tree after the rain

She stood all alone. The wind wiped the remnants of the rain from her long green eyelashes. The leaves glistened - as if someone had gone over them with a watercolor brush, pressing lightly.

I looked at her from the balcony. Down below there was still the smell of wet stone and lemon leaves. But the palm tree didn't smell - it was silent.

And suddenly it seemed to me that this is not a tree. This is a woman who does not cry. She just stands in the rain and lets it happen. Without a fight. Without regret.

I stayed with this feeling until the evening. Sometimes being strong means just not hiding from the drops.

2. The Stone I Couldn't Throw Away

I picked it up on the shore. It wasn't pretty. Not round, not white, not the kind you'd want to hold in your palm. But for some reason I didn't put it back.

I carried it home as if it were something important. And then it lay on the table - next to a cup of coffee, next to a book, next to me.

This stone is like a memory that you don't want to lose. But it came, and you are no longer the same. And you can no longer throw away what changed you.

3. The staircase that leads to nowhere

I found it by chance. An old stone staircase, half of the steps overgrown with grass. It went up, but got lost in the bushes.

I stood at the foot of the mountain and suddenly I felt good. Because not everything in this world has to lead somewhere.

Sometimes you want to walk up the stairs just because they are there. Without a goal, without a summit. Just feel the stone under your feet and the lightness in your heart.

4. Warmth underfoot

The sand was almost white. Warmth seeped through the soles of the feet into the body, as if someone was gently stroking from the inside.

I closed my eyes. The wind touched my hair. Somewhere in the distance a seagull cried out.

And it suddenly became clear to me: I don’t need anything. No answer, no goal, not even meaning. Just this moment – and the warmth under my feet.

5. Nobody came, and that was the beauty of it.

I made a deal with myself: if no one comes, I'll just sit by the sea. And no one came. And I sat.

And that was the best time of the whole day.

6. Letter to yourself

You're doing well. Even when no one is looking. You can be strong - quietly, without showing it off. You don't have to drag it out. You can sit down, cry, forget. You can be. You are. And that's enough.

7. A small cafe with one table

I saw it when I was almost past it. A narrow street, shaded by a fig tree, and a single table.

There was a cup on it - not mine. But it seemed to be waiting. I sat down at the next table and ordered tea. The cafe owner didn't ask anything - she just put a warm pie in front of me.

This was my breakfast. And my conversation - without words.

8. One question

What if everything is already good? Not tomorrow. Not when it works out. But now.

What if silence is the answer?

9. Footprint in the sand

I walked along the shore, leaving footprints. And then I turned around - and the wave had already washed everything away. My steps disappeared. As if I had never been there.

And still, I walked.

10. Nothing happens

This day was no different. I drank coffee. Peeled an orange. Looked out the window.

Nobody called. Nothing happened.

But at the end of the day, I caught myself thinking: I'm smiling.

The end of the book

…but not the end of the notebooks.
